Zion Country in one sentence summarized \" THE PEARL OF EASTERN JAMAICAS\",but I would like to be more explicit :)). We stayed in July 2018 for 10 days as a family with our 15 years old son.We had 2 simple but beautiful cottages with verandah and hammocks, directly on the sea with a wonderful view. On arrival you can feel the positive vibes of this accommodation.Small, great cottages, nestled in the wonderful natureof the island. We were immediately warmly welcomed and felt directly recorded.Zion Country means chilling, bathe, listen to the sounds of nature.\"Feel Iree\"!Away from mass tourism,we got to know the right Jamaica.Watching the Blue Mountains while swimming was my personal highlight. The open showers overlooking the sea were every evening a joy.Owen the best cook in the area conjured us in the evening delicious food from chicken and fish with vegetable side dishes from the garden.Early in the morning he took the trouble and brewded us fragrant Blue Mountain coffee :) ...thanks for that...!Tamar always brought us sufficient breakfast with delicious fruit and she makes beautiful braided hairstyles with her qick fingers. Free-I the manager with his 3 dogs, organized great trips and helped us with full commitment on all pending issues and situations.(Many thanks):)).For a casual conversation after dinner,he was always available. \"Thanks for that\"! If you want a casual,stress-free holiday, you are right there. For a little more active people, you can also visit fantastic beaches,go hiking in waterfalls or visit the next town.Everything with the route taxi to reach.HINT:Take advantage of the kayak from Zion Country. You will be amazed what there is to discover great. We´ll definitly be back soon and thank Free-I, Owen and Tamar for this great memorable time.ONE LOVE Martina,Kai and Robin from Germany

We had the most amazing experience at Free-I\'s property and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience Jamaican country life. We felt at home here, Owen\'s cooking was exquisite and the locals in the nearby shops and bars were welcoming and accepting. We always felt safe and cared for. My 14 year old son loved nothing more than lying in the hammock, petting the dogs and overlooking the seaview. It is a beautiful peaceful place and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the beauty of a peaceful life by the sea.

We had a very pleasant, week-long stay at ZION COUNTRY. Our five year old daughter learned to swim in the shallow bay at the foot of the resort. Unfortunately not together with the Manatees, but
that´s really the only thing to „regret“. Everything else was great! Free-I created a paradisical garden on the steep terrain, that offers a great view onto the Carribean sea – especially from our bungalow´s terrace. He organized a very nice trip to the near Reach Falls for us and took us to Winnifred Beach. During her time out of the water, our daughter was busy to collect conches and stones, so we could relax underneath the almond tree directly at the private beach of ZION COUNTRY. And not least because of the cordial nature of Owen and Tamar – and of Owen´s cuisine – we like to remember the wonderful days we had while staying at their place.

In February 2017 we spent three nights in Zion Country, we had found that place in the internet. It gave us a completely different impression than everything that we had seen before during our trips through Jamaica fort allmost 20 years.
It is situated on a cliff with a great view to a beautiful bay. The wooden cabins are comfortable and clean, painted in nice colours, they are simple, but who needs more at such a place? The showers and toilets are placed in an outbuilding, they are clean and well maintained and there is a good lighting on the footway when you go there in the darkness. The cabins are built on the slope and surrounded by an amazing garden. You can relax in a hammock on the small wooden terrace und you see palmtrees and flowers around you and the calm and clear water of the ocean in front of you in a distance of only a few meters. That is really nice! In the night you have only the sound of nature – the waves and the tree frogs. And it is a place where you feel really safe.
The beautiful garden is the result of yearslong work, full with fine well arranged details and in the garden as well as in the cabins you can feel the european origin of the host Free-I. You can also see hummingbirds flying around the flowers near the cabins. Here we could make real good pictures from these birds for the first time ever. And during our stay we could also watch a Manatee in the bay lifting its head out of the water. Free-I told us that they use to come into the bay because of the fresh water from the river.
Atop of the place there are the main building and an area where the meals are served. From here you have an amazing view over the whole bay and the garden. Free-i-I is a cool guy and we liked to chat with him.
It was also impressive that this is a place where plastic and glass bottles are collected and brought to recycling. And they treat their animals with love. You could see three friendly dogs and an old cat fed well. They are very tame and obviously they have made good experience with humans. We had seen something like that only two or three times in Jamaica.
In the neighbourhood of Zion Country you can take a walk, the locals are very friendly there. They say there is much less criminality than in the big tourist areas at the Northcoast of Jamaica. There are some foodshops where you can get the usual chicken with rice but this is not comparable to the fantastic dinner which is cooked by Owen at Zion Country.

For little money we borrowed a little kayak from Free-I and paddled the river upstream coming from the mouth. That was very relaxing and a great experience, but the trip to Reach Falls, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by an amazing jungle, was really outstanding. We were accompanied by an young local guy who was very nice and relaxed. He took care of our rucksack with the dry clothes and helped us to make a lot of wonderful pictures from the area. Bathing in the fresh and clear water was a great pleasure. We recommend everyone who comes to Zion Country to make this trip.

Zion Country is a very special place in Jamaica where you should go if you want somehow to escape the well known touristic routes. You can really relax there and get unforgettable impressions. It was a great experience for us and we will come back for sure.

Zion Country was an amazing and unique Jamaican experience. It is situated on the side of a cliff looking out over a magnificent bay and the mouth of a river. The cabins look out over the beach with a hammock and deck to relax on. Free-I was a wonderful host and it was to great to chat with him and hear his stories. Owen was also a wonderful cook and host who made us feel at home and made fantastic dinners for us. The cabins are small yet very comfortable and the fan is enough to keep you cool at night. The sounds of the surrounding animals and nature can be a bit loud at night but we got used to it very quickly. The surrounding town of Manchioneal had a handful of little bars to drink at and the locals were very friendly. The open air showers also made for an amazing view. This was the most relaxing and peaceful place we found in all of Jamaica and we will definitely be returning soon.

When we were planning our trip to Portland Parish, we were looking for someplace central, but also a relaxing destination in its own right. Zion Country is exactly that. It's a beautifully manicured, thoughtfully designed property surrounded with a variety of local flora and fauna, sitting atop a beautiful bay.

The cabins were private, clean, secure and had amazing views of the ocean. You can tell that Free-I spent many years perfecting his space - there are private spots for relaxation, a place to grab a drink and play dominoes, and a hammock right outside your cabin door.

Owen, Zion Country's chef, and Free-I were both extremely friendly and offered wonderful suggestions for things to do in Long Road and the surrounding areas, including day trips to Reach Falls, Long Bay and Winnifred Beach, all highly recommended. It is a truly special place and we can't wait to go back.

My sisters and I visited Zion Country for a week in March 2016 and absolutely hands down enjoyed out visit. After a long, and bumpy, drive out from Montego Bay we found our accommodations and even a note on the gate, so that we knew we were in the right place. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for the "real" island experience away from the large tourist areas, definitely put Zion on your list. Tamar and Owen go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the guests are well taken care of. Free-I is full of information, stories, and advice on what to go do and see. Definitely have Owen set you up with a tour of the river up to Reach Falls with Renny, the walk up the river is far more spectacular than expected. We enjoyed jumping into the pools off the rocks so much that we wanted to go back the next day. We had dinner one night in town with Owen and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend visiting Zion country, and plan to visit again my next time on the island!

We had group of six person. We stay at Zion Country for 8 nights. The community of Long Road was really nice. People were friendly and the food was great. There is lots of beaches and places to visit near Zion Country.
The area of Zion Country is really breath taking with all that green nature and views. Free-I (the manager of Zion Country) makes you feel yourself really comfortable and welcome. It was interesting to chat with him of the history of Zion Country and Jamaica.
Breakfast was pretty simple, but dinner was great.

Stay at Zion's Country for a few days

We had a lovely and calm stay at Zion's Country in March 16.
We had the family room because we traveled with our 2 year-old son. The "cold" shower was intense for him but we are used to that.
Fry and the team was always willing to help and gave us nice tips about the neighborhood and the things to do around.
I can only recommend to have dinner there looking at the sunset while having your dinner, food was excellent.

Definitely a place to stay if you want to stay away from tourist areas and looking for eco-friendly place and craziness of US resorts.

Thanks again !

We are a family of 4 with 2 young kids (10 and 7). We were at Zion Country Beach Cabin in Feb. 2016 and we enjoyed our stay there. We loved the view of the ocean, the small cabins in wood, the pretty property, Tamar's food, the trip to the Reach Falls and the people we -briefly- met there. Before our arrival Free-I had told us we would enter a paradise and we subscribe to this definition. Thanks to the reviews in this guestbook and pictures on the Internet we knew what to expect and there was no surprise. Definitively a place we would recommend for people looking for off-beaten paths.

We travelled through Jamaica in first 2 weeks of October and started our stay at Zion Country. What a beautiful place to stay! The cabin and property were basic and clean. Free-I (and his staff also) was really helpful and friendly, he had so many stories to tell (about all his Jamaican experiences during all these years). It was a good way to start our own Jamaican experience for the next two weeks. The only disadvantage was that Zion Country is located in Manchioneal community; a 50 min drive from Port Antonio and 2 hour drive to Kingston
