Here's a 53 mi route

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/24308052

It's ~25 mi to Watertown whichever roads we take. That makes the shortest round trip slightly more than 50 mi.

I'll make a 30 mi route for those that want something shorter. They'd have to have someone drive a car and switch places and drive 1 way then ride the other.

Let me know if that option is wanted.

Plan on leaving LBC at 11:30, hanging at Watertown for the eclipse from 1:00 to 2:00 then riding back.

Eclipse times (approximate):

Start 11:58;
Total 1:27 duration 2 minutes
End 2:54

Here's an article on a cycling astronomer. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/louisiana/articles/2017-08-13/pedaling-astronomer-cycles-to-nashville-for-eclipse Someone on facebook can send him a message.

Re: Here's a 53 mi route

I'm going to ride early to avoid the heat and then watch the eclipse from the speedway. Let me know if you're interested.

Will leave at 11:00. Anyone is welcome

Leaving at 11:00 allows riding as slow as 12.5 mph and still arrives almost 30 minutes before the peak. The plan is to watch then ride back. The posted return trip may/can be easily altered.
