Private Charles Henry ELLIS

Dear All

Firstly may I thank the owners of this web site for giving people the opportunity of discovering knowledge of friends and family.

I am hoping someone could help in my quest in obtaining information on my Grandfather Pvt Charles Henry Ellis, Service No. 5883949. Charles was born in 1891 and served in WW1 and then served in the 9th Battalion The Buffs in WW2. He is buried in Haycombe Cemetery Bath and on the grave stone his date of death is 4.6.1942. I am at a loss as to why he is buried in Bath when the family were based in the Plumstead/Woolwich area. I was wondering if the Battalion were training in the West Country and Charles may have been killed there, or am I just clutching at straws? :)

If anyone could shed any light or come up with any ideas I would be very grateful.

Hope to hear from anyone soon.

P.s. I am now discovering the fascinating history of The Buffs !!
