Saturday Center Hill Dam to Granville

Saturday morning is looking good for the Granville ride. Park on the north side of Center Hill Dam. There is a public bathroom available. There is likely a short section of gravel on HWY 141 beside the Caney Fork which is perpetually under repairs. Granville has two very nice store stops. The marina on Cordell Hull Lake has been entirely remodeled into an upscale establishment. It has a fire pit on the back deck and may be preferred on a cool morning. The Sutton General Store is unique among our store stops. It is as much a museum as it is a store. Other highlights include Chestnut Mound which served as winter quarters for the Army of Tennessee in 1862 following the retreat from Mill Springs. We will also travel Rock Springs Road which is the oldest road in Middle Tennessee and connected the Fort at Kingston to Nashboro. Big Rock Market is available near the end of the ride. Come join us and enjoy a change of scenery. Don’t worry if the start is a little cool. The hills will soon warm us up.
