IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING INSURANCE The Racquetball Association of Ireland requires all players competing in RAI sanctioned tournaments to have accident/injury insurance. The RAI has taken out a policy with JLT Ireland to cover players for the coming season. The insurance covers serious injury, medical & physiotherapy expenses while playing racquetball. Cover is for 12 months and players are covered at all RAI sanctioned tournaments in Ireland and while practising at their clubs. The risk of playing the sport without insurance is no longer acceptable. GAA centres also require racquetball players using their facilities to have insurance, no insurance, no game. International Sucess Congratulations to Joe Devenney(Ballinrobe), Eoin Tynan(Fethard) and Noel O`Callaghan(Fermoy)who achieved international success at championships in the USA over the summer months. Well done to Joe Devenney(Ballinrobe) on winning gold and silver medals at the World Seniors Championships in Albuquerque, USA. Joe, a Derry native along with Roman Corales from Mexico won the 45+ Doubles and he was runner up in the 45+ Singles. In the 45+ Singles Final he was defeated by Ken Chesire of the USA. Full Results
More International Success Congratulations also To Eoin Tyan (Fethard) and Noel O`Callaghan(Fermoy) For Eoin it was double success at the US Open in Minnieapolis. Eoin took home GOLD in the Men's C Singles and the Men's Over 35C Singles. Eoin teamed up with Noel O Callaghan (Fermoy) to take silver in the 35+ Doubles. Overage All Irelands 2018 The All Ireland Overage Championships were held in Castlebar on Saturday 6th October with 22 players competing. Over the course of the day, 32 matches were played in the two courts in An Sportlann. Congratulations to the winners: Aisling Hickey(Rossmore) 25+, Ken Cottrell(Kilkenny) 25+, Gary Lynch(Queens, Belfast) 40+, Billy Walsh (Kilkenny) 50+, Michael Lynch/JJ Bonn(Tralee) 50+ Doubles and Padraic Ryder/Katie Kenny(Newport/Castlebar) Mixed Doubles. Ireland were placed in 14th place overall following the team's performances at the 19th IRF World Champoinships in San Jose, Costa Rica 11th - 18th August 2018. The Men's team of Mark Muphy, Johnny O`Keeney, Eoin Tynan & Ken Cottrell were placed in 15th place and the Women's Team of Aisling Hickey, Donna Ryder, Majella Haverty & Katie Kenny attained 13th place.

A team of five junior boys will compete at the IRF World Junior Championships inSan Luis Potosi, Mexico from 4th - 11th November, Under the guidence of National Junior Coach Mick Cunningham, the boys are training hard to be prepared for some tough matches in Mexico.

Next Tournaments Ballinrobe Open The Ballinrobe Open will be held on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th November 2018. Closing date for entries is Sunday 11th November Enter online HERE All Ireland Junior Uneven Championships The All Ireland Junior Championships will be held in Fermoy on Saturday 1st December. Outside courts will be used if there is a large entry. Connacht Doubles The Connacht Doubles will be played on Sunday 4th November - Venue to be decided Other News Daily Racquetball Donna Ryder (Newport), pictured left was recently featured in an article on Daily Racquetball. You can read the article HERE Donna competed at the 2018 US Open in Minnieapolis, USA and was a mermber of the Irish Team at the World Championships in Costa Rica last August. She is current European Singles & Doubles Champion. Annual General Meeting The AGM was held in Athlone on Sunday 9th of September. We would like to welcome Mark Murphy(Vice-President), Eoin Tynan(Asst Secretary) and Majella Haverty(PRO) as new members on the RAI board. We also wish to thank Aisling Hickey and Adam Neary who have left the board for their service and dedication.

Coaching Course A foundation level coaching course was held in An Sportlann, Castlebar on Sunday 7th October. Aisling Hickey and Gary Lynch were thw tutors for the day. Joe Gibbons, Terry O'Hara, Majella Haverty, Daniel Gibbs, Michael Ryan and Paul Chambers were put through the course and will be awarded their coaching certificates later
Wedding Bells! A big congratulations to Eoin Tynan(Fethard) our Assistant Secretary, who tied the knot with Melissa McMahon on Sunday 14th October in the USA. We wish you many years of happiness from all in Irish racquetball
