Doing ancestry work and in the 1900,&1920 census found my great grandmother who my grandfather always indicated died when he was a child. The census indicated she was in Byberry in 1920. This is making bits of information that we did know fit together. Once I learn the required credentials I will be heading to north to attempt to learn more about her time there at Byberry. Hard to believe that so many people were looking the other way for so long! Thanks for your work.

My aunt was a patient there (Marie Resigno) one day my Mother was told \"she ran away\" then some time later they said they found her skeleton on the grounds, and she \"died of exposure.\" All this happed over 40 years ago. It still makes me sad to think about all those poor souls trapped there.

MY UNCLE WAS IN BYBERRY FOR 37 YEARS. HE WAS, I BELIEVE, A CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR WHEN THE WAR BROKE OUT . BECAUSE OF HIS CIRCUMSTANCES HE WAS PLACED IN BYBERRY AND NEVER CAME OUT. I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO FIND AND LOCATE HIS RECORDS. THE FAMILY DIDN\'T KNOW TO OBJECT TO HIS BEING THERE BECAUSE THEY WERE IMMIGRANTS FROM EUROPE, FIRST GENERATION, WHO KNEW NOTHING AND MY POOR UNCLE ROTTED IN THIS HELL HOLE FOR HIS ENTIRE LIFE.

The Gravestone for Albert Kohl lied, the people who put his gravestone there lied. He didn\'t die, he was mentally retarded so they put him in the asylum and renamed him Bert thats where he grew up. The other gravestone JSKP the first initial stands for Jennifer. The SKP stands for Save Kids Please....its a message to save all the children in Byberry mental hospital but nobody figured it out.

ByBerry Hosp. was suppose to do good & there heart was in the right place, but like all Big Gov. Run programs it went crazy, & all the horror that ya all here about it was very true. I was there to visit my Aunt way back in the 50's w/ my Mom, & I was horrified at the age of 6=8 yrs old & she never took me there again. Then I was there w/ my Nursing Class.. that Tour was scary to say the least,, I still pray for those lost souls who had no other way to live. as they got locked into the system.. Very Sad.. & so appropriate for Halloween . It's a great place for spookie things <3

oh it GODDOG for some reason i always thought it was Godbox..I remeber seeing that on every freaking door.Shame i didnt see my name on your photo's..W-3 was the best building.Back in the 90's those copper pirates used to take the blocks off the roof for copper nails and we used to drink evey weekend on that roof and wait for the security to drive by and push them big blocks off.We used to scare the **** outta them when they hit the ground cause them things had to weight about 500pds..But today i still saved some blue prints i found there and some extra bottles form that bottle room.I wish that place was still there cause i'll still be in it..haha
