Geometry Lesson 29

We are having trouble understanding #2 (Complete the table) on Worksheet 29-1. How does 3 squared + 2 x 3 + 1 equal 16? It actually equals 34. Please tell me what we are missing here. Thank you so much!

Re: Geometry Lesson 29

Remember the order of operations: Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract

Multiply first

3 squared=9, 2x3=6

Add everything last

9+6+1=16
