Level E Lessons - Fractions

Level E,

In a previous lesson (Lesson 11), we learned that we were able to divide a line into 1/2 by using the triangle and aligning it to the right end of a line and drawing a small tick mark on the angle and then flipping it over and repeating the process. Where the tick marks intersected, we have the 1/2 way mark.

I went back and looked and noticed that in a previous lesson (Lesson 9 - Wkst 11), they were using the drawing board and other "equipment" to show how to "find equivalent fractions using drawing tools." On this wkst it did ask the child to find 1/3 and other fractions "to be done with the precision of the drawing tools." I didn't notice this before as my husband had done the lesson with my son. He said he just "eyeballed it," but from the directions, it seems they expect more.

In Lesson 14, my son and I drew diagonals since we were given a rectangle. Where the diagonals intersected, we had our middle.

Anyway, the lesson is now asking us to find one-thirds. How is this done? In a previous lesson (Lesson 12), this was easy for us to find because we were given a fraction chart above the worksheet problems from which we could just line up our straight-edge and trace down below.

Hope my question makes sense. I'm sure I must be missing something.

Re: Level E Lessons - Fractions

Ignore the previous post. In trying to type and teach at the same time, it is quite confusing. I've since figured it out. Thank you for your time, anyway!
