Geometry Lesson 9

My daughter and I are confused with the chart on Worksheet 9-1. We filled them in after I looked at the solutions, and I see the MATH happening, but I don't we don't have a clue what they're asking in terms of "number of pieces" and first, second and third division.

Could someone just take a second to clarify what we were just doing, in relation to equilateral triangles? Maybe I just haven't had enough tea yet and I'm being dim, but I'm confused.

Thank you!

Re: Geometry Lesson 9

Kristina,

Thank you for your message. Sorry for the confusion, I did consult with Dr. Cotter in order to offer you a more in depth understanding. She advised the following:

"For the first row, to divide an equilateral triangle into eighths, you would divide it into 4 pieces, then divide each one into 2 pieces. For the second row, to divide the equilateral triangle into 12ths, first divide it into 4ths, then 3rds. And so forth."

I hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything else we can help with.

Make it a great day,

Cassie
