When should I start level A for my daughter??

I have a six year old son who will be starting level B in the next month...yes I know it's weird to start a new program at the end of a "school" year but we home school all year and we didn't like the Horizon's program anymore. We anyway I also have a four year old daughter that turns five this Nov...should I wait to start with the level a program until she's older...right know she can count to 20 and recognize numbers up to 10. We are still working on writing numbers.
Thanks for your time
Jenn

Re: When should I start level A for my daughter??

I'd say try it. Worst case scenario -- you get 20 lessons in (say, as far as stuff she already "knows") and you bog down and it's obvious that it's too soon for her. So you stop and go back to it again later.

That's of course, IF she's interested and keen on it. :) My daughter is only 3, and we've started level A -- we don't do lessons every day (not nearly!!!), just once in awhile, and only when she's in the mood, and will sometimes review the same lesson for several days before going to the next. But she's keen on it and enjoys it and understands it. If she ever stopped enjoying it or if (when) we hit the point of diminishing returns where it's just too much for her to understand or enjoy, then we'll stop and come back later. :)

Jenn,

Thank you for your message and thank you to Heather for her message also. She is right on with her recommendation to go ahead and start your daughter on RightStart.

Even if you don't start doing lessons with her, feel free to play many of the math card games with her. You will be amazed at how much she will learn, not to mention how much she will enjoy learning! :)

Since you are using Level B for your son, you would only need a few additional items to teach your daughter Level A. You would want her to have her own AL Abacus and the Level A Lessons and Worksheets.

I hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything else we can assist with.

Make it a great day,

Cassie

Great thank you both so much for your help...I think I will go ahead and get level A for her and just use it at a slower pace.
