Level placement help for third grader who's behind
What level should I put my third grade daughter right now (midyear). Here's the facts:
* she has used RS in the past, but inconsistently over the years
* the furthest she went in RS was one-third of the way through level B
* she has never learned things like double/triple digit addition/subtraction
Re: Level placement help for third grader who's behind
I would personally start over in "B" or where you left off in "B" - But now that she is older go through it faster. Make sure not to skip the "fun" stuff in order to do this. This will reduce anxiety and build confidence.
My son (10)should have started in transitions and then moved to "D" but we looked at what was covered in "C" and determined that he had not been introduced to roman numerals, the geometry, and needed a refresher in multiplication facts (with a fun twist instead of flashcards). We started in transitions and flew through the 24 lessons required to start C in 2.5 weeks. We have chosen to do math 6 days a week until we are in the correct book for his level which would be middle of "D." Because we are having fun for the first time with math, it is no problem.
GOOD LUCK!

Hello Gina,
My first thought is, have you taken the placement test to see where she should be placed in the program?

My dd8 is in third grade and is almost finished with RSB. This level really reinforces the basics and should be worked through thoroughly before moving on, IMHO.
