Intermediate Math as a supplement for gifted child

Hi,

I'm using Levels B and C with 2 of my younger children, and we love it. My oldest, a gifted 6th grader, finished Singapore 6B last year and is now doing Dolciani Math & Structure 2. I recently bought the Intermediate Math (for another child) and love what he is doing! I am wondering if you think it would benefit my oldest to do a couple lessons a week, in addition to his Dolciani math. In other words, do you think it would work to pick lessons here and there for him to explore? There's so much fun stuff there! Or, do you think he's past benefiting from the Intermediate Math?

Thanks for a great program!

MCK

Yes! Intermediate Math great supplement for gifted child

MCK,

Yes, yes, yes! I think your gifted sixth grader will love the RightStart Mathematics; A Hands-On Geometric Approach curriculum. Use this as your "Friday Special" activity. This is 5th, 6th, and 7th grade math using a visual approach. Even if your son if well beyond this level of math, he will enjoy the perspective and still learn.

I do think it would be best to do the lessons in order as they do build on one another. Picking lessons might create frustration if he doesn't have the necessary background.

Keep us posted and let us know how family progresses. We'd love to hear how everyone is doing.

Kathleen

Re: Intermediate Math as a supplement for gifted child

Thank you for your reply, Kathleen. I'll try rescheduling his Dolciani math so he doesn't have to do any on Fridays and can instead play with geometry!
