Geometry Worksheet 163-1

Question 5: My son thought the answer to this problem was octahedron AND cube. Could you please explain why the cube doesn't have a great circle?

As for the rest of Question 5, he said the polygon for the cube would be a square and there would be three of them. When I told him the answer was only octahedron, he said that based on that answer, the great circle must have to go through edges only, and not faces. But this doesn't make sense to him because the circle, which has the true great circle, doesn't have any edges at all.

Thanks,
Julia

Dear Julia and Liam,

Liam is right: that "the great circle must have go through edges only."
