Re: Difference in Abacus

Hello Jennifer,

The wood abacus is made in America, and is used by teachers, like Montessori teachers, who like more natural manipulatives. The beads may stick a little sometimes, as they are made out of wood and sometimes swell.

The plastic standard abacus in not made in America, and is more durable than the wooden one. And the beads slide easier.

I have three kids and have two abaci. I have not felt the need for three abaci.
I find that two is sufficient if you are teaching one child at a time.

Thank you for giving your child a RightStart in Math,

Carissa
