Yes, with the Math Card Games kit.

Yes, you can supplement any curriculum with the Math Card Games. You can purchase a Math Card Game kit that provides you with an abacus, game book, the six decks of cards you need to play the games and two fraction charts, one you cut up and one you keep whole. This is the easiest way to supplement your math curriculum. If you want to just learn the abacus you can work through the Activities for the alabacus which is a written book of how to use the AL abacus to do basic arithmetic, such as addition, multiplication, subtraction and division. You can find this on the website under tutorial. This was the original program before RS, which is written in a daily lesson plan format.

What I would recommend is that you consider the Math Card Games where you can receive the benefit of the RS philosophy without teaching a whole math curriculum to your children while they are in a classroom setting using a different curriculum.

How does that sound? Let me know if I can be of more service to you.

Sincerely, Rosine

Re: Yes, with the Math Card Games kit.

Thank you for your reply and sorry about the previous additional question. I just read the subject of your reply without clicking the link. When purchasing the games, do you get the benefit of the same number grouping & other concepts that are taught through the RS curriculum?

Re: Re: Yes, with the Math Card Games kit.

Yes, you do get the same number grouping and other concepts. I would recommend that you read through the introduction of the game book and then the numeration section of the game book. Here you will be more strongly introduced to the RS way of thinking about numbers. Of course teaching the RS curriculum is more complete, however, playing the games certainly will help a child and is easier at complimenting another curriculum.

And, yes, purchasing the complete math card game kit is what I recommend.

Sincerely, Rosine

Re: RightStart appropriate for non-homeschooler

So are you suggesting that we purchase the games only or the entire kit?
