Official Lilly Reunion Family Tree

Background
Ken and Edna Moody produced and self-published four Lilly genealogy ‘Books’ in 1983, and another in 1988. The sources they used, but did not identify or specify, were vital records located in county records offices, census data, and contributions from many Lilly family members and relatives. In the many years since these publications, it has become necessary for genealogy researchers to provide specific source information to establish or ‘prove’ the accuracy of their tree data because there are many inaccurate, and even bogus, family trees on the web and in print.
The Official Lilly Reunion Association Family Tree used the ‘Moody Books’ as a beginning point and added information from many other sources to develop this personal computer based Official Lilly Reunion Association Family Tree. The tree now contains 16,805 validated Lilly family members.
The Lilly Reunion Association Genealogy Committee
The Lilly Reunion Association’s Genealogy Committee’s goal is to have a verified source for each data item in the Official Lilly Reunion Association Family Tree (i.e., birth, marriage, divorce, military service, and death, etc.) and to expand the tree by adding new relatives and descendants.
To this end, the Lilly Reunion Association Genealogy Committee has established a Lilly Reunion Association Genealogy Research Team. Membership in this Team is opened to family members interested in contributing to the improvement and expansion of the Official Lilly Reunion Association Family Tree.
Lilly Reunion Association Genealogy Research Team
Team members received a membership kit by e-mail or regular mail after joining the Team at the 2013 Lilly Reunion. The Team membership kit included detailed instructions for submissions to the tree editor and examples of the types of source data required.
Team members also received an e-mail invitation to view, at no cost, the Official Lilly Reunion Family Tree on-line at Ancestry.com without having to be a subscriber to Ancestry.com.
Thereafter, team members filled in and e-mailed or mailed Addition and/or Correction Forms with accompanying source image(s) to the Lilly Reunion Association Family Tree editor. The tree editor verifies the accuracy of these submissions and enters the data provided into the on-line Official Lilly Reunion Family Tree.
The Team member providing the largest number of source-verified Additions and/or Corrections before the next year’s Lilly Reunion will receive a free Team membership and access to the on-line tree for the following year.
Additions and Corrections to the Official Lilly Reunion Family Tree will have the submitting person’s name attached to that source item. Thus, contributor’s names will be permanently identified in the tree.
Membership Period
Membership in the Lilly Reunion Association Genealogy Research Team is from 1 September to 31 August. It is therefore recommended that one join at the Lilly Reunion or shortly thereafter to maximize access to the on-line tree.
About the on-line tree
The Official Lilly Reunion Family Tree is developed off-line. It has been exported to Family Tree Maker for Mac 2 and is periodically uploaded to Ancestry.com private family trees replacing the previous version of the on-line Official Lilly Reunion Family Tree.
Please note that the Official Lilly Reunion Association Family Tree is copyrighted and therefore not to be copied, replicated, transcribed, or disseminated in any part or whole without the explicit written approval of the Lilly Reunion Association.
