I am related to Sam Lilly and Nellie Lilly (nee Ramsey). Sam was a cantankerous old coot injured in a coal mine accident and one-time mayor of the burgeoning metropolis of Rhodell, WV. They had 9 or 10 kids, one of whom is my father, Thomas A. Lilly.

The one question this site asks you is are you related the Robert Lilly and Mary Frances Moody Lilly, you can now say yes! I found Sam listed different ways, sometimes as William Sam and sometimes just Sam. He lived with his Grandparents from a young age according to the US Census reports, I can only assume why. My Mother was raised by her Grandparents since money was tight, or maybe his parents died young? Here is what I found as far as your line from Sam to Robert and Mary.

Isaac may also been married to Polly Shrewsbury first B ? D abt 1837 - 1840. Also saw listed Agee Farm, buried with wife, I assume they were buried on the farm and can only assume the wife was Catherine/Elizabeth.

Sam had siblings listed as Effie B., Irene L., and Hattie from one census report. He and Nellie had the following children according to one census report, Edna (b abt 1921), Frances (b abt 1923), Mary (b abt 1925), Shirley (b abt 1927) and Thomas A. (b abt 1929)

I found who I believe to be Nellie's parents, Will C. Ramsey (b abt 1875), Lucinda (b abt 1877). The odd part is I found Nellie listed in the 1930 census living with both her parents (listed as Divorced)and with Sam (although listed as Wellie). So they may have been going through the divorce or were seperated?

Alabama Barbara Gore has parents listed as Isaac Gore B abt 1805 D abt 1884 and Ida Belle Woodrum B abt 1806 D abt 1874.

This information was gathered through my Family Tree on Ancestry.Com. It comes from Census reports and other members Family Trees so were counting on them being correct.
