Milton Barracks in 1945

My father left it in his diary he was stationed at Milton Barracks, Gravesend between May and September 1945 and was in the Queen's Regiment. However, I have failed to find that there was a regiment called exactly that in 1945 - A Queen's Own Regiment was formed many years later. He says he was in the 13th Infantry Holding Battalion of the Queen's Regiment. My guess is that he didn't get the name of the regiment quite right.
On 11 September 1945 he sailed with the Army from Tilbury Docks to Bombay, India and served in that country until his demob in October 1946.
For anybody who reads this post and knows more information I wonder could they kindly reply to these questions please:
1) Which regiments and units were based at Milton Barracks in May-September 1945
2) which ship did soldiers from Milton Barracks sail on to India from Tilbury Docks on 11 September 1945.
I know my father returned on the Strathnaver ship to Southampton in October 1946.
Kind regards, Haydn.
