Are you asking about the Alto to Sewanee climb? It is about 2.5 miles. For the first mile the grade is around 9-10% (goes to 17% in one of the switchbacks). The rest of the climb is 6-7%. A good training ride is to start in Alto, make the climb to Sewanee, over and down the mountain to Sherwood (Hwy 56, stop at the bridge) and then turn around and follow the same route back (32 miles for the loop). The climb up from Sherwood is 5 miles at 4-5%.

Go to the Highland Rimmers website. The Tullahoma guys used to do that once a week. If you wanted some accomplices, maybe you could hook up with them. I have been with them, and they really like hills.
