Re: todays ride

The ride back was eventfull. I finanlly figured out what was wrong with my bike with ~6 miles to go. This was of course after i heard the hissing sound of my tire going flat. No problems though, I had a spare. That is until after installing and pumping the tub up the stem broke off of it. Good thing I had a patch kitch.

I would say that standing in the freezing wind in skimpy bike clothes and having to change a bike tire twice in a row was a completely worthless experience, but the hot shower that followed never felt so good.

At any rate, the bike was skipping gears because i am a complete idiot at 7:00 in the morning and decided to not seat my rear tire correctly. Live and learn I suppose, makes perfect sense in hindsight.

That sun was deceptive, but at the end of the day I'm glad I did the 62 anyway. The course was well marked and I thought the route was very good.

Re: todays ride

Sounds like you guys had a good ride today. Several of us from the club went to Winchester and did the Dogwood 100. I did it on my beater mtb and realized much later into the ride that my road bike would have been the better choice especially since my longest ride this year has been 45 miles(until yesterday). The ride was beautiful (and Alto is still there, as well) but the wind was brutal at times.

Hope to see all next Saturday for the TCM. The weather is supposed to be sunny and 81. I hope it holds!
