Dad fell somewhere around Fosterville today on the kick-off-ride.
His right wrist is broken. Our wonderful hospital has no orthopedist on call this weekend. There was an orthopedic tech. on duty and he said that his wrist will need to be re-set. They are hoping that they can do this in the office, if not, then he is looking at surgery. He's supposed to go to an orthopedist on Monday.
Dad also has road rash basically from the knee down on both legs and his left arm from elbow to wrist. So, both legs and his left arm are wrapped up.
He is resting right now, and also extremely irritable.
Pretty sure it is the pain med's making him irritable, cause it started after his first shot at the hospital...hopefully he won't need them long...
Dad says nope no 700 mile ride...but seriously,he also says that he could use any influence you have as far as getting him into Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance. Mom is supposed to call them first thing in the morning. We hope they can squeeze him in. His wrist needs to be set.
Ed and I hope and pray that the pain will be minimal and the recovery so fast you won't even remember it being broken! Take care of yourself Cary and we'll see you back on the road soon.
Cary, I am saddened to learn about your accident. The pain of the injury is bad enough but for you, it is probably minor compared with the prospects of being off the bike for six weeks. Our prayers are with you. May God bless the doctors and medical staff during your surgery and His blessing be extended in giving you a speedy recovery. We are anxious to see you peddling again soon.
