Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

The sounds of songbirds and frogs in the woods behind my house tell me spring must be on the way. That means bike season is just around the corner. Dorothy and I have taken our bikes in for the annual tune-up. I expect this year's tune-up will be much lower than the last two years, but I also expect we'll be getting back the same bikes we took in!

Spring also means the beginning of preparations for our club's Two-County Metric ride. The date for this year's ride is Saturday April 15. As always, my part of the preparation and execution of the ride is to coordinate SAG support. For the TCM I like to have 5 SAG drivers on the road. You don't need any special skills. Just have a vehicle capable of carrying a bike and rider if they are unable to continue under their own power.

SO …. Volunteer now and let's get this recruiting campaign over with! If we get down to the last few weeks without enough volunteers I'll have to start buttonholing people individually. Save yourself the embarrassment of having to make up a lame excuse when that happens! Volunteer now! Operators are standing by! Email me at ed.stevens@comcast.net and say "Ed, I'd love to drive a SAG vehicle for the TCM on April 15th!" We'll even throw in a free TCM t-shirt, and I'll try to twist the ride director's arm to kick in a little gas money for your vehicle.

Gas money will be provided.

Ed, I'd love to help. I'm afraid I'll be visiting my family in Ky for Easter. If things change I'll let you know.

Re: Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

I was a SAG driver last year and really enjoyed it. I helped quite a few riders and they were all very appreciative for the assistance. Unfortunately, I have to ride this one as part of my 3 State 3 Mountain preparation. However, I will help with registration before the ride or clean up after.

Re: Re: Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

Great! Maybe I can come up with a prize for the first to volunteer?

Be watching for a separate email.

Re: Re: Re: Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

Hm. Looks like I clicked the wrong place. That was supposed to be a reply to Jeff!

See what happens when you snooze, David? Now Jeff will win the special DVD collection of Al Trautwig (only) commentary on the TdF!

Re: Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

Ed,
I've never driven SAG before but am more than willing to change a few flats or give a lift as needed. Count me in

Re: Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

Would you or Dorothy one take my bike in for a tune up? If you bring back a Lemond Womens Versailles then I'll know it's magic at MOAB....

Re: Spring Is In the Air! (Shameless plug!)

Members wanting to ride should do the pre-view ride the week before so they can volunteer and help with this only 1 of 2 pay events we put on each year and the proceeds not only help out some worthy organizations but give the club some money that helps keep our dues as cheap as they are. We need all the volunteers we can get so please help. If you can't drive sag then call me and I will find something for you to do.
