What is a Velo Swap?
It's your chance to sell your used cycling itms at garage sale prices. Forget
about e-bay listings and packing to ship; just bring your used but "like-new"
goods to GF. Check in clothing, helmets, or shoes in the week before the sale.
Bring bikes, racks, and wheelsets on the day of the sale. Set your price. We
will sell the goods at the sale and post the cash to your in store account. We
will try to keep it simple, but we will need some rules. Read below if you have
some items to move.
Here's How It Works:
1.Clothing, shoes or helmets - Visit the shop during the week of March 20th to
drop off .
1A. We will provide labels for you to price your goods. You will be assigned a
number to identify your stuff and allow us to keep up with your money. We cannot
accept anything with a sales price below $10.
1B. We will start a Velo Sale rack which will be displayed at GF for the week.
Our regular customers may snap up your goods before the official sale, and you
don't even have to be there!
1C. This rack gets moved outside on Sunday, the 25th.
2. Bikes, racks, wheelsets, parts - Bring these items to the sale on Sunday.
Arrive at 11:00 am to get your items checked in and priced before the official
sale starts at 11:30 am. We request that you stay with your items during the
sale.
2A. We can manage the money for you on larger items (run a credit of debit
card), but if you just work your own deal with your buyer, that's great. If you
are there, we don't have to hold your cash. (Of course, letting us post it to
your customer account will facilitate future shopping at GF…) Our main goal here
is to help cyclists recycle their used items.
3A . Advance publicity is available for bikes if you want to e-mail a
description to be posted on the GF website under the Specials tab
(http://www.granfondocycles.com/specials). Send your ad (ready for posting) to
granfondocycles@comcast.net. You can also bring a picture and or description for
posting on the Velo Swap bulletin board we will have in the store. Make sure you
list your contact information for questions, etc.
Remember, this is a customer sale. We are not taking possession of your goods,
so these items will not be subject to sales tax. No items will be accepted for
sale with a value below $10. We ask that you price in $5 increments, to keep it
simple ($10, $15, $20, $25, etc.) Questions - call 354-1090 during shop hours (M
