The next caution is on Owens. You will want your low gear (lets say mi 27 1/4) before you turn Right onto Owens. Owens is a beautiful road way back. Enjoy - but be in a climbing gear at the beginning.
Those wanting a shorter route could stay on Rocky Branch. Go straight at the top of the hill where the main route turns right to go down Porterfield.
There is a store on Hwy 276 in Statesville. The owners are nice and I hope they stay in business. There are few independent country stores left. Spend money. We need places to stop.
