I'm going to guess the short route will not be a no-drop route because it's not a CZ-is that a safe assumption?

Recruit someone to ride with you

and you'll have a no-drop ride.

Post back that 2 of you plan to ride together and invite others to your version of CZ. Feel free to create a route if you prefer other roads to those posted. It really isn't difficult to lead a ride.
