The Woodbury Public Square (please park on the north side) is the starting point for the ride to Alexandria. The start time is later at 9:30 due to the lunch starting at 11:45 at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds. The planned route follows Hwy 70S a short distance east to HWY 53 to Liberty. We will travel Historic Main Street in Liberty into Dowelltown and take Smith Fork Road past Aaron Tippin's place to Mt Zion ( a stop on the Big Hill Challenge). Aftr regrouping we will turn west to Alexandria on Lower Helton Road to Alexandria. After eating BBQ and GooGoos we will return via Goose Creek, Liberty Hill,Fuston Hollow/Round Top, Statesville Road, Hwy 96 to Auburntown, and Hwy 145 into Woodbury. This is more of a touring than training ride, and is less than 50 miles total. It will give us time to head to the BRAT that afternoon. Any DTC voters can cast their ballot during the lunch stop. Lunch is provided by DTC. The White Oak Craft Festival is also held in Woodbury that day for those interested in high quality items. I am out of town until Friday night. I will not have a GPS file. Maybe some one has the prior one and will post it. Please bring a signup sheet as well. I will monitor the Board
Thanks for the help with the 2011 routes. I I intend for us to use the same route. I am unfamiliar with locating those routes on ridewithgps site. I plan to have maps available for those who use them. The mileage may be closer to the 55 number suggested above. I wish I could be more specific.
There is one climb leaving Woodbury and one on the return. With a few more rollers on the return route.
Non-members are welcome to check us out and ride. We usually break into groups with the top end 17 mph and 13 mph at the slower end. We will regroup at Mt Zion and at lunch in Alexandria. It is more difficult to regroup on the return to Woodbury.
Wizard - To our great regret, the Saturday schedule just will not permit Martha and me to join you tomorrow. It is a great ride and the company is even better (plus it's a eatn' event!). Have fun/be safe/I'll see you for the Man Ride in October. Josey
I don't know how to access the files, but I think it is the last two. No one will be left behind. The Cannon County Posse is reforming and the column of riders will be guarded front to back.
Sarah posted the correct route. On the return it maybe best to continue past the beautiful Liberty Hill Church and not turn west until we reach the ford across the creek on to Fuston Hollow. The ford should be dry and it will save a climb. I am ready for my GooGoo Cluster.
