Saturday 6/20 Club Ride: Lascassas-Watertown Loop (53 miles)

A big thanks goes to Jim Nelson for helping me plan this route!

Time: 8:00 AM
Ride Leader: Bill Stephens 615-579-2004
Start location: Lascassas Baptist Church, 4750 E Jefferson Pike, Lascassas, TN 37085
Junction of Jefferson Pike (Hwy 266) and Lascassas Pike (Hwy 96).

Route Description: This 53 mile loop follows mostly back roads to Norene, Watertown Square, Statesville, and Greenvale. Some sections get a little hilly (MapMyRide says 1300' of climbing). The road surfaces are great with the exception of three tar-n-chip miles on Patton Hollow Rd but they are not bad at all.

Store Stop: Three Forks Marketplace/Fuel Express in Watertown at mile 27.7. It is located .2 miles south of the square on Hwy 70.

No one dropped. Hope to see you there!

Sounds great Bill.....I look forward to being there.

Re: Saturday 6/20 Club Ride: Lascassas-Watertown Loop (53 miles)

Bill - Looking forward to Saturday's ride. Noticed your GPS info. I've got a GPS and am just beginning to learn it's many mysterious ways. Still working on that ride download thing. Think I need more software. Will be picking your brain for GPS info when I see you Sat. Be prepared for a lot of basic q's. GPSing could take all the fun out of adventure ridin' !

Re: Saturday 6/20 Club Ride: Lascassas-Watertown Loop (53 miles)

Sure... I'd be glad to show you what I know. I am still learning about all the features myself and I am no pro. I've learned a lot about GPSing from Mark B and Jim N (when I can keep up with them on rides)!

I agree... sometimes getting lost on a bike is half the fun!

P.S. - Email or call if you'd like me to try to help you get this course loaded up prior to the ride.

Re: Saturday 6/20 Club Ride: Lascassas-Watertown Loop (53 miles) (Shorter option?)

Bill,
Do you have a 40miler option some might want to get back a little early? Thank's

Re: Saturday 6/20 Club Ride: Lascassas-Watertown Loop (53 miles) (Shorter option?)

Hi Joe. The shortest and most direct loop to Watertown is 40.9 miles if you don't mind riding Cainsville Pike up and Statesville Pike back down. They will have more traffic, and I tried to use back roads as much as possible on the main route (and avoid roads that are in bad shape).

Here is a link to the 40.9 mile loop:

I'll bring a cue sheet for this route Saturday.

If others who are more familiar with these roads have a better 40 mile route suggestion, let me know.

There are lots of alternatives to cut it short

One could add a little adventure even with gps by cutting short on Jug Creek etal. There's one good hill on Jug.

Adventure succumbed to gadgetry?

There's no adventure in having your every move plotted & tracked on the new screen of life version 3.0.
