pro builder (DK) on tire pressure

Dave Kirk;59214
It's heartening to read such practical numbers in this thread. Sometimes I have folks inquire about a bike and when I ask about their existing bike and what they don't like about it they often say the ride is too harsh. My first question has become "what tires at what pressure?" and so often it's a 23mm or narrower tire pumped up to 150 or even 170 psi.

When asked why so much the answer is almost always "because that's what it says on the sidewall". They think I'm whacked when I suggest that they lower the pressure by 50 - 70 pounds.

Me - 25mm tires 95 front and 100 back.

And Dave is a tall guy. His site: http://www.kirkframeworks.com/

Sure most folks run reasonable pressures, but many don't. Running them too hard negates any chance of your annular pnuematic suspension working properly.
