A local radio station (99.7 in Nashville) conducted a poll about cycling on public roads.Only 13% felt we had the right to use public roads. The radio talk show host refered to cyclist as "spandex road trolls".I am not making this up.
The margin of error on these "bogus" polls range from 50% - 95%....one can vote as many times as they want (on the radio station's website)...and its usually by people that have 13% or less physical activity in their lives.
When I am on my bike.....at least 90% of drivers are courteous.
...by the way, I heard the call-in show when this topic was discussed. The term "spandex road troll" originated from an e-mail (from someone complaining)to the radio station, which started the whole discussion.
The majority (that I heard) of callers were PRO-CYCLISTS, and the talk show host (Ralph Bristol) sided with the cyclists population. And he stated "it takes less than two minutes to pass a cyclist on the road, we all could certainly watch that much less of TV".
