Greetings from "End of the Road" - Ely, MN

Hi, The Pres and I are back in civilization and have enjoyed 2 days in a classy Lodge on Shagawa Lake. The Grand Ely Lodge is really great and much deserved after eight days of wind and rain with only about a day and a half of sun without wind. We survived a 24 hr 10" deluge and 40-45 mph gusts and pouring rain on our last night! Came in like drowned rats, lit up the Coleman and made ourselves hot tomato soup while waiting on the ride back to town. You know, it's interesting, while out there in the rain and wind, we seriously thought our time was up for the Wilderness Experience, but after a hot shower, sleeping in a bed and not waking up to pouring rain, I think I'm ready to do it again. Maybe in a couple of years that is! See you next week back on the bikes. See ya, eh!

It's so good to hear from you! I was just thinking about you today. I've missed you and wish you a safe trip home.

Want some squash?

Re: Re: Greetings from "End of the Road" - Ely, MN

Oh yes, squash would be good, especially since it sounds like that was everything in the box this week! Good thing it keeps! Boy have I got stories when we get back, can't wait to see ya'll.

You're just a little late in the season. Catch any fish?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Greetings from "End of the Road" - Ely, MN

Nah, we were fighting either wind or rain, so we didn't even take the rods out of the canoe. Those we passed who did fish weren't doing so well anyway! We aren't much for fishing, both fair weather fisherman!
