Bike Ride from Nashville to Chattanooga

Need help: A group of us from Charleston, SC, are planning a week+ ride in spring of 2008. The plan was to ride part of the Natchez Trace Parkway nothbound to the terminus. Then to ride from there to Chattanooga. Looking for suggested routes from the Terminus to Chattanooga. None of us are familiar with Tennessee as far as road bike riding, so I was hoping someone on this site could ghelp. I would appreciate any info anybody has.

Re: Bike Ride from Nashville to Chattanooga

with a little bit of work you could incorporate the Tour de Cure Route from Murfreeboro to Chattanooga. It's a great route and already marked. Just need to get from Leipers Fork to Murfreesboro. Anyone have a route?

I'll email you the Tour de Cure route tonight.

Re: Re: Bike Ride from Nashville to Chattanooga

Thanks! That is a HUGE help.

If you want some other options, let me know. I am in Chattanooga. I know it is quite a while away, but have you found a place to stay yet in Chatty? I don't know you, but my door is always open to cyclists. How many will there be?

Thanks for the invite. We have a fairly large group (had 16 riders last time) and we always stay in motels. But we welcom local riders to jon us. I can post our final route on this board later on.

The last ride we did was Underground Railroad Route (Adventure Cyclingt) from Owensboro, KY to Mobile. That was in May of this year.
One year we rode from Murray, KY through LBTL, down the Natchez TRace to Natchez, and down the Mississippi to New Orleans. Another year we rode from Dover, DE to Charleston, SC via Williamsburg, VA and down the Outer Banks. We also ride either the Natchez Trace of Blue Rideg Parkway once a year.

If you want to avoid busy roads, I would recommend going back on the Trace to the Leiper's Fork exit (13 miles) and then going south of Franklin through Thompson's Station, then over to MB on back roads. If this appeals to you, I or someone else can give details. Once east of Franklin, you will have many nice roads to get to MB.

How many in the party? Would you like a guide partway?

Re: Re: Bike Ride from Nashville to Chattanooga

We will have 14 to 16 riders. We welcome anyone to join us for the riding, and we ALWAYS carry lots of cold beer for afterwards!!! Don't have dates confirmed yet, but looks like early May.

Re: Re: Re: Bike Ride from Nashville to Chattanooga

Early May, ehh? Try planning it so you will be in Chattanooga for the first weekend in May. That is when 3 state 3 mountain challege is. It is a good ride.

I think 14-16 is too many for my apartment, but I'll be happy to catch up with you here.
