Re: Drunken ******* ride for Saturday, July 21

Let me just say.... I LOVE THIS IDEA! The motto, "Do whatever you want" is perfect. Being one who doesn't usually get home from work until this posting hour, 10ish sounds fantastic. My eyelids launch a coup attempt everytime I try to open them before at least nine and sometimes even then. 10ish is my normal time to ride anyway. Fitting right into my schedule.

Now I must make a warning that I am not much of a beer drinker, but I have been known to throw back a shot of tequilla on occasion, sometimes 2. I could just skip the margherita back and be on my way. it's a win-win.

I would like to propose a toast... wait, no that comes later....ummm... I would like to propose a modification. Since it appears you can ride home from the mexican restaurant perhaps we should alter the original route to start at the Mexican restaurant and you could ride there to start. We could also end at the mexican restaurant. You could ride home and I could strap onto the SUV to drive no where other than home or if necessary call for an emergency extraction by an interested third party.

This new start and endpoint knocks 5 miles off the current route, but consider that 5 miles might be your trip to the restaurant and home. But if you really want 5 more miles on the route, I can find 5 more miles on that route, easy breezy.

I further propose we ride the route backwards, more R turns and less trying to turn L at the Rutherford/Hwy70S intersection. It is usually pretty crowded with inattentive drivers that make me nervous.

So what do ya say?

This does sound like an excellent idea! I'm right there with you SAC, 42, 2 kids and with the working in Nashvegas it's tough to make the club rides, count me in on some if not all of these rides! I like the later start times also and the heat......well it helps you sweat off the lbs., you just have to stay hydrated, no problem. Not to mention a little carb replenishment after the ride in the form of cerveza is a bonus! I'll have to check my schedule and maybe rearrange some things, but this is an excellent possibility for this week. I like the Princess' idea on starting and finishing at the Mexican place too!

No problem with the change to the route nor starting out at the Mexican joint. That's actually better. In fact, if we can get some critical mass on these rides, maybe we can get the restaurant owners to throw us out some food and drink specials.
I'll post another Drunken ride announcement with the changes. Thanks!

Excellent!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Drunken ******* ride for Saturday, July 21

So, how many miles and how fast are we talking?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Drunken ******* ride for Saturday, July 21

Valerie, from the ride maps on the site, it looks as though the school to school mileage is 30 miles. I'm guessing that with the starting point change that it may be 25-30 miles. As for pace I don't know what others do, but I'm looking at 14-16.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Drunken ******* ride for Saturday, July 21

The change in route leaves about 25 miles. Since I am slower than everyone in the free world; AND in the interest of not being late for the festivities; AND in keeping with the motto "Do whatever you want"; I am shaving off 5 additional miles for myself. I can't keep up with any of the boys and am frequently out run by lots of the girls.

Sorry that I didn't make the ride, I had to help family move. So how was the ride and how many showed up? I'm sure that I already know how the post ride cerveza's were!
