This year's annual Independence Day / Independent Hill Ride will begin at 7:00 (yes that's seven o'clock in the morning!) at the Stevens Outpost on Spanntown Road, in beautiful downtown Almaville. The route is 31 miles, featuring a climb UP Independent Hill.

After the ride is a pot-luck brunch. At this point I know of people bringing ham and biscuits, breakfast casserole, fruit ....

I'll have ice and bottled water in the cooler. If you want to bring other drinks and throw on the ice, feel free.

From M'boro, take SR-840 west, exit at Almaville/SR-102, go right 1/4 mile, turn left on Spanntown Road. Log home on right, directly behind the church on the corner. To maximize parking, please park diagonally (not parallel) on either side of drive.

I'm in. I'm not for sure if I can make it up the hill, but its worth a shot.

The Schmidt's are going to miss the 4th in Tenn. We are living it up in our Katrina Kondo!



We will be back next week, I can sure use a bike ride!

Be sure there are no recreational activities going on in that TRAVEL TRAILER.

The Way's will miss the ride there but will be riding the tandem with Quincy in the burley at the annual 4th of July parade ride at Edisto Beach, S.C.

Beware of a fresh seafood place by the marina. It is upstairs and there is a bar downstairs. They are really expensive with not so good food. I got food poisoning from the soup.

If you walk far enough north you can find tons of really large shells.

Looks like I wont be able to make it. Dad and I were up on Spanntown road this afternoon and I was going down a hill way too fast and ran over some pretty wicked rocks. 2 tires and tubes are flat and 1 bent rim, and a couple of bent spokes.
