Spirit of America Annual Metric Ride-Decatur,Alabama

I'm looking at going to Decatur, Alabama for their Spirit Of America Annual Metric Ride on June 30th. Just wondered if anyone has done the ride and their opinion of it. Is it very hilly?

Re: Spirit of America Annual Metric Ride-Decatur,Alabama

I don't know if this is the ride I did as my first metric or not. At that time I had only had my road bike a couple of weeks and had been on a hybrid before. My longest hybrid ride had been 30 and my longest road ride 52. The year I did this ride it was on the 3rd or 4th of July and it was HOT. I also remember a couple of tough (then) hills with generally good riding otherwise. I was not up to the ride and was by myself over 40 miles of it. There was road construction and the 62 became 70. Had it not been for another rider taking pity on me and staying with me the last 20 miles, I would have SAG'ed out at mile 50.

That said, I remember it as a good ride with beautiful scenery and average hilliness. You should be able to do it no problem! Go for it girl!
