On a good day with snorkle and fins I can get half-way across the pool. I float really well, but it is not a very fast or efficient way. When Al and I went to the Tour we went under the English Channel- but on a train-no swimming.

Very optimistic to swim the Atlantic in 30 days![:)) Perhaps Steve could come up with the calculations using the formulas used to calculate rider route times (like the ones you share with my class)!

Just last week someone had shown me a similar routing for New York to London. Can't say those guys at Google don't have a sense of humor. Interstingly, Los Angeles to Tokyo returns 'maps not available'.

When I first saw the title of this thread, my immediate thought was the old joke about asking directions in New York:

"Hey buddy, how do you get to Carnegie Hall?"

"Practice, practice, practice!"
