Lt. Edward T. Knickman -374th

I'm seeking info and picture regarding my dad, Lt. Edward Knickman, P51 pilot with the 374th. He joined the 361st in August '44. His plane was called the Joe Ghost. Dad passed away 12/23/02, and I'm trying to compile a history for his grandkids. We only have 2 photos of his plane. (He held the rank of Capt. when he was discharged.) Also, he was the original link that Paul Cora used to write his book "Yellowjackets!"

Re: Lt. Edward T. Knickman -374th

Hi Patty,
Your post of 5 years ago. In Lt. Arnold E. Davis' Diary I found the following post:

January 10, 1945
"Flew one mission today. Didn't do any good.
Got Knickman home."

I know that isn't much but thought it may be of some help to you.

Patty,
One more entry from the diary of Lt. A.E. Davis, a fellow pilot from the 374th FS.
Sept. 20, 1944. Knickman spun in but wasn't hurt. He hit a haystack. Wrecked plane completely.

It was a pleasure talking with you Steve, and I will be happy to assist Diane with whatever possible. I just spoke to my Dad's crew chief, Russell Severson, who is now 87 years old and as quick as a whip! Thanks for tracking me down and getting me back on track to find out more about my Dad's time flying P-51's.
