I recently bought a CD of two of BJ Thomas's earlier releases which included Raindrops. I was disappointed in the sound quality compared to the original LP's, plus the very high cost of them on places like ebay.
As a result I've resorted to making a personal use CD copy of my original albums which are in mint condition, and the results are much better. If someone has a good turntable and good original LP's,then I would recommend making your own copy. It is very important to have a good stylus.
I just ordered sealed LPs of "Young and in Love" and "Everybody's Out of Town" even though I already have the latter since it was a two for one deal. "Young and in Love" is more rare than a lot of his earlier releases. I already had a copy that was playable, but it wasn't mint. As much as the compilation CDs are nice, it is nice to listen to the complete original LP versions, many of which aren't available on CD.
