Is anybody else going to MetroCon this weekend? They are going to have 3 panels just for EGL/EGA on Friday night as well as a Visual Kei/ J-Rock panel sometime on Saturday. I was so happy when I heard the news! Basically one of the EGL/EGA panels will be for the history of the fashion, one will be on how to make an EGL/EGA outfit without much sewing, and the other will be like an EGL/EGA meet and greet. ^^ I can't wait!
It is going to be in Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL. The address is 333 S. Franklin Street
Tampa, Florida 33602. It'll be Friday-Sunday, the 24th-26th. I'm so excited! www.metroconventions.com lol I sound like a bulletin board.
Are you sure this is about EGA and EGL fashion?
I go to the website and only saw anime competition and doesn't seem like to have EGA and EGL stuff.

Re: EGL/EGA/Visual Kei Panels at MetroCon
MetroCon is an anime convention, but some of the panels are dedicated to EGL/EGA on Friday night. The whole convention won't be EGL/EGA (I wish!), but I guess somebody who knew enough about EGL/EGA was kind enough to run some panels about it. Panels tend to last about an hour long, so I'll be getting three hours of EGL/EGA on Friday! Yey!

5:00 pm- Intro to EGL and EGA
This pannel is an introduce to Elegant Gothic Lolita (EGL) style as well as Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (EGA) clothing. This pannel will show you an array of styles, materials, history and pictures to help you understand the popularity of this Japanese street style.
6:00 pm- EGL Dress Transformation Demonstration!
Are you interested in the EGL style but just don’t have the sewing skills or time to make your own dress? No problem! This demonstration will show you how to convert a regular, already made, dress from a thrift store into a perfect Elegant Gothic Lolita styled dress with little sewing required!
7:00 pm- The Sweet Morbid Effigies Gothic Lolita Social
After learning the origins of GL and finding new ways to express yourself in fashion, stick around to mix and mingle with your fellow kawaii-kowaii (cute-scary) devotees! Unwind with your new friends while enjoying evening tea. Bring your gothic dolls and take lots of pictures; this will be an evening to remember! Come dressed in your elegant lolita best, and head for the Final Fantasy Ball after the social. Hosted by Lauren Goodnight.

i would really love to go... ( its 2 hours away from my home)... but i dont know anyone who can come with me... ;___; and there is no point in going alone... so i guess i am not gonna go...
Oh, I'm sorry you can't go. I'm leaving today, because it is a five our drive from my place, and I want to check into the hotel tonight. If you'd like I can tell you what they talked about and send you some pics (or post them) of the people dressed in EGL/EGA if I get to take any decent ones.
Sorry I haven't posted sooner, it's been very hectic since I got back from MetroCon. Gomen. The Con was very fun, I just had one complaint: There weren't enough people dressed up in EGL! I think there were only three people in the entire convention (excluding myself) that did. Almost all of the people that showed up at the EGL Tea Party, except for a few, were in normal clothes. I was sad. My friends and I did get to take some pictures of the people who dressed up, but on my way back to the hotel from the convention at 2 AM apparently the people who worked at the Convention Center thought it was a good time to turn on the sprinklers...And my friends and I got completely soaked...including my camera. *sweatdrop* When I got back and took it to CVS (the local pharmacy) they said it couldn't be salvaged, at least it was a disposable! I was so upset! Stupid convention center people and their sprinker system!!! The good news is that my friends got some nice pictures on their cameras of people dresses up in EGL, which they have yet to develop, and that the following day I was able to take more pictures on my second disposable camera! Yey for back-ups! But being as that I couldn't track down one person dressed in EGL on that last day I wasn't able to get any EGL pictures to replace the ones I had lost. *sob* All I have to do is finish up the role of film so that I can develop it; there was this really cute Cloud cosplayer. ^^ When my friends send me their pics I promise I will post them hear! Ja!
I know its really suppose to be Mana-sama forum... but would you mind posting or emailing me any good pictures that you took... *also an anime fan* ^___^
I would really like to see how it all was... including that really cute Cloud cosplayer ^__~
