Thanks for your take on this topic, which is interesting turn on what I subscribe to. I am not too sure about release from the cycle of birth and death for as a scientist I think we only have one physical life as a body. What we do possess is a mind that harbours atman and when atman=Brahman one is the Self in operation doing ones work (karma) nonchalantly spontaneously and unpremeditatedly for one then is Brahman and this is where oneness or advaita comes in as a conceptual reality.
