HINDU SHLOKAS PERTINENT TO THE CONDUCT OF VAISHNAVISM
From: Mahabharatta:
अहिंसा परमो धर्मः
धर्म हिंसा तथीव च
Meaning: Ahimsa Paramo Dharma; Dharma himsa tathaiva cha
Non-violence is the ultimate dharma. So too is violence in service of Dharma. Dharma ki Raksha ke liye hinsa karna sarvouttam hai.
From: Manusmriti 8.15
धर्म एव हतो हन्ति धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः
dharma eva hato hanti dharmo rakṣati rakṣitaḥ
"Those who protect the Dharma are protected by the Dharma’
To elaborate further, from purely personal assessment of the value of these ancient strictures: I wish to discuss the following:
WITHOUT DHARMA A PERSON IS LFELESS, SO WHAT IS DHARMA EXACTLY, THAT IS THE QUESTION.
The shloka 'ahimsa param dharma, dharmo eva thai vacha, dharmo evo hato hanti, dharma rakshati rak****a'; Is taken from the Mahabharatta, and is utterly meaningful, To me it means that 'ahmisa’ is the highest dharma, but fighting in dharmayudha, including himsa/killing ideas that threaten your dharma, and killing parasites of all kinds; human too) to protect your dharma is supreme dharma. Since everyone has a dharma of sorts, in terms of their duties and responsibilities and what might be termed righteous actions, how does one decide which mode of action karma) is the supreme dharma. Only from trial and error and steadfast in wanting to perform the ultimate appropriate actions if you find yourself and your dharma (works) protected to remain in mankind as visionary for future generations to try and emulate by yourself surviving uncriticised while you live on doing your specific dharma in liberty, unconcerned and unperturbed by what is going on around you. This is when you know that you have found the eternal law of the universe. You then have truly realised the mode of living in seeing the protection of your dharma as referred to by Dharma Rakshati Rak****a, Then, you know that you are performing in effect Santana Dharma, if there was any such thing for we do not believe in divine inspiration and divine revelations: every truth has to be self-determined from experimentation through the path of satya-advaita yoga at a personal level. The author’s view is that for him, Vishista Advaita Vedanta is totally non-violent in the physical sense.
We do not believe that our body is important in any other respect but as a tool for actions as karma. These karma have to be of the highest order of merit. That is pure ahimsa, do not kill, do not physically assault another living being, be that a human, an animal or even a plant, a virus, etc. We do however speak our minds as it is our body only that is involved. If others do not like that they can shut their eyes to us, close their ears, or do whatever they think they should do. Words are the extent of hurtfuless that we practice. For words come out for us from the depths of truth operating as we do at the interface between the mind and the Supermind, what we call ‘dil’ or conscience to express ourselves and expose our feelings. We once we understand the fullest extent of the evil upon us become non-cooperative in not socialising at all with the parasites, keeping ourselves in our the sanyass.
We use words only to defend ourselves: defence is the best form of attack for us to defend our faith that we live by. We are Gandhian, non-cooperative with tamasic and sattvic evils that harm Nature in their own ways as we see the world. We have the optimal rajasic mould of life. They can persecute us all the like, and we will not budge from our homes in order to socialise with them, once we have found the sanctuary of liberty to practice our faith with our loved ones only. People have to feel like joining us, that is the only way we can be friends. We do not engage with real-evil, that we describe as Satan-evil. We live within ourselves, jobs or no jobs, we struggle along with our closest ones.
I have protected our dharma and that is all that matters to me, from my sides. If no one joins us we go alone and go our separate ways. I am a Hindu, I believe in Sanatan dharma, at least sanatan dharma in operating from the interphase between the mind and the Supermind as I call it, the point at which our ‘dil’ arises as conscience.
They can lock me up again in a mental hospital as in 2004 and 2008 and since restricted my movements in employment in the house under semi-detention terms which was in fact martyrdom of sorts in itself and still is at this moment that I am taking my anti-psychotic, antidepressant and mood stabilising medications enforced upon by the State of the United Kingdom. But I for one adhere to my path of Vaishnavism, reflecting on the following scriptures that I strive to persevere towards:
सत्यमेव जयते नानृतं सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः ।
येनाक्रमन्त्यृषयो ह्याप्तकामा यत्र तत् सत्यस्य परमं निधानम् ॥
satyameva jayate nānṛtaṃ
satyena panthā vitato devayānaḥ
yenākramantyṛṣayo hyāptakāmā
yatra tat satyasya paramaṃ nidhānam
