27 miles

will this work?

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the short ride?

That wil work. I haven't had a chance to ride Bradyville Hill & may get to run by the house. What a deal!!

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the short ride?

9:00 a.m. start time - but if you need us to wait a minute or two on you, we can.

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the short ride?

where are markets, Junkman?

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the short ride?

can anyone join this short ride? I am a new but not brand new rider. I have done a 20 miler but need to get more rides in before April 21 ride. How fast are you riding? Would I be left if I was not fast?

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the short ride?

anyone can ride - only requirement is a helmet - I'm doing the long ride, so I can't answer your "will I be left" question - but my best guess is that you will not. Our group is pretty good about not leaving new riders (new to group or new to riding) out there. You'll have someone to ride with.

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the short ride?

Thanks for the info. I am not going to be able to ride tomorrow...forgot an appointment at 9:00 but I am going to keep watching. Really need to do more group rides and work on climbs. I do have a helmet. :-)

Parchcorn hollow is gravel and very steep. Much like Gilly hill.

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the long ride?

Junkman would route up Hill Creek instead of the HWY but you are only on the Hwy for a mile. Captn Corley can comment on the shoulder. There used to be an old guy on Hill Creek that worked the hillside with a mule team.

What time might you be leaving?

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the long ride?

what will be the pace of the long ride?

Re: Saturday Route - how about this for the long ride?

pace will be anywhere from 14 - 18, depending on who shows up and how big the hills are.

Stores

Short Ride: Parsley's Market - Hwy 70S & Hwy 64

Long Ride: Woodbury
There used to be 1 on Hwy 70 where you turn R. I think it is closed.

There was a paved route down from Sugar Tree Knob. I haven't ridden it for years & don't remember exactly which road. The County has paved most so enjoy the gravel if you can find some. It is from a bygone era.

As long as you don't take the 1st L after crossing HWY 53 (to Gassaway), you'll be sort of on route. Adventure, you going?

See if the jog onto Peeler Hill is good. Jim Town to the bottom isn't paved but I thing Peeler is.
