Your right to the road is threatened by another piece of proposed legislation
There's another piece of bad legislation in the transportation bill. This legislation will outlaw cycling on the road on Federal lands & parks, wherever there is an available sidepath. So regardless of the condition of the sidepath, and whether or not that sidepath is safe to ride on and regardless of whether that sidepath takes you where you want to go, you'll have to ride on it.
The real problem with this law is that it is bell-cow legislation. Any state government will now be able to cite this law as a reason to exclude cyclists from any road they choose and require us to use sidewalks.
