Are they different?

I was wondering if Autism and Asperger's are tow different syndromes. I've read that there are similarities and differences between the two, but is Asperger's a form of Autism or what?

my son and i are both aspergers ,our consultant says that because our speach was normal as infants this is why we are aspergers and not hf autistic.i have hf autistic friends who are no different to me only that they had speach problems as infants.
aspergers is an autistic spectrum disorder.

My son has Asperger's and as far as my research is concerned, Asperger's and Autism share the same symptoms. With Asperger's however the symptoms are not as bad, and the person can live a close to normal live, while with Autism they need much more help.
