In 1950 there were 13 buses transporting students from all over North York to Earl Haig. One day we had a new driver on a Gray Coach bus. Some helpful students near the front gave him directions. This very large bus wound up driving down a two wheel track through grassy fields, north of the school. The ground was dry so the driver managed to recover from our help. I always felt it was worth the mass detentions we earned. It was equivalent to a unit citation and source of pride. Carpe Diem.
