Tony Boot Back at the Lane this season

For Braintree though

Braintree Town have softened the blow of losing key player Louis Riddle until March by swooping to sign striker Tony Boot.

Versatile Riddle is likely to be out for ten weeks after undergoing an operation on his shoulder.

However, Iron manager Lee Patterson has been busy in the transfer market, with the arrival of Boot bolstering his attacking options heading into the new year.

Boot, 25, has arrived at Cressing Road from Billericay Town.

Boot finished as Slough Town's leading goalscorer in the 2002-03 season.

It led to a move to Dagenham and Redbridge and Boot's non-league career has also taken in spells at East Thurrock United, Chelmsford City and Bromley, before he signed for Billericay in the summer.
