Re: Robbed!

From the Eastbourne board - "Not a great performance by the referee in my opinion. What's this all about having a personalised number plate with REF on it?"

Re: Robbed!

As always, lets blame the referee- we're getting into Premier League mentality of its always someones fault we lost apart from ours. Forget the p**t who misses from 1 metre, can't convert a penalty etc etc. Oh no, lets blame the ref!
We lost today because Eastbourne were better than us. A concept some of those purporting to be Bromley "supporters" cannot perceive.
Their keeper had absolutely nothing to save all afternoon and we were on the backfoot all the time. We gave the ball away continuously .
Otherwise, a nice day out. See you all at Welling!

Re: Robbed!

John I agree that Eastbourne over 90 minutes were the better side and I agree that it's a daft mentality to always blame the referee, but I can't help but feel he made a few bad decisions which put us at a disadvantage. Watching the highlights on the way back, there was no way it was a penalty and Corneille's red card was equally as difficult to work out. I guess our luck ran out today, but I can't fault our work rate or overall performance once we got the measure of Eastbourne. Disappointing, but we hardly missed out on a plum tie, and we've still got the FA Trophy as well as a potential play-off challenge to look forward to, so it's not all bad.

Re: Robbed!

Oh well it wasn't to be, I thought we would hold on for a replay but a harsh decision with 5 mins to go finally did us in.

A good showing from the team, battled hard but eventually eastbourne's pressure paid off even if it was hard to stomach the way they took the 2-1 lead.

Concentrate on the league now, and the sensational shield

Re: Robbed!

I think it's perfectly acceptable to critisise a referee if he is incompetant, biased, or worst of all - corrupt. Only the ref and JD think we didn't deserve at least a draw from the game.

Re: Robbed!

A very amateurist showing from the referee. No idea what the penalty was all about. It's difficult to see on the Bromley Aces video but the ball was nowhere near the 2 players who fell over and the lack of protest from the Eastbourne players would suggest the penalty wasn't justified. A draw would have been a great result but even so, Eastbourne are the best in the division and it would have taken something special to break them down in a replay. Eastbourne deserved the win but it's a shame the ref had to give it to them on a plate!!!

Re: Robbed!

After seeing the video footage, both the red card and penalty were very poor decisions.

eastbourne did have quite a few chances though, so eventually one of them paid off.
