Message:   Mitch,

You hit the nail on the head. The exact point is that I was NOT making noise beyond what any normal Harley would make at 10-15 mph in second gear. This was definately a profile stop if there ever was one.

I'm 58 years old. I ride with respect and don't look for trouble. But this guy f%@#ed with the wrong Marine!

This seems to be an ongoing thing with Ocean Ridge. I am just waiting for them to stop me one day. I purposely drive through Ocean Ridge just for that purpose. As a note, I find it funny that a normal police officer with no motorcycle mechanic experience can merely pick out a moving motorcyle (as it is passing bye), look at the muffler and tell that it is improper. That is good. I have been a motor officer for more then half my career (25 years) and I cannot tell what is improper or not. I feel this maybe a part of profiling. As to Helen's comments regarding the cages with altered exhaust systems if theyare ticketed. It is a matter of public record for any person to go into the police station request printouts of total citations issued for certain violations such as mufflers. They may charge for it ut you can get it. You could also probably be specific as to cars versus motorcycles depending on their data base. Also I have heard from friends that Ocean Ridge has stopped cycles for noise. Once stopped, the officer asks the rider to crank the throttle up and then issues a citation. I believe this to be a form of entrapment and they should not issue a ticket. I maybe wrong.
To avoid any possible confrontation with officer friendly try to drive the limit and not the crank throttle till you get through their wonderful seaside community.
