Replying to: Hi. I have reading here for about a month and was not sure if I knew how to really do this. I am not that familer with boards. I am a 45 year old male, and up untill last march I almost never got sick, in fact I would work out with weights, bowflex and jog 2 miles at least 3 times a week.
Inmarch I got what the drs. called the flu and a cronic sinus infection, [ never had one before] it came with swelling of the face and the worst pain I ever been in teeth, jaw and toung felt like they were on fire.I got the usual meds ,but they didnt work so in 3 days I was back in ther office and the put me on prednisone and that help, they did a cat ct.scan and said again it was my sinus.the pain went away but came back in 6 weeks.it was so bad that it pulled my lips away from my upper teeth,my daughter called the dr and he said I should go to the e.r. he thought I had a stroke. they did another ct. and said it did not show any stroke.they gave me pain pills and sent me home.this is a long story so I will try to cut it short. Between may and aug I have been dx.with alot of different thing none were right I guess the way they put it the meds. should have helped.
The only thing that helped so far has been the prednisone which they keept using through this.
I was told by my dr.there was nothing else they could do for me. so I went to a large medical school e.r. and the told me I had a autoimmune disease, and wanted to but me in the hospital but my inusre. would not cover it.
I changed drs. and he said I never had a sinus infection that I have trigeminal neuralgia. after using tegretol, and uping the dose to 900mg. for 2 months the pain was still there,He had me on 1500mg. of hydrocodin and it would not even touch the pain.I started losing the vision in my left eye, so he put me on prednisone, and sent me to a neuro.before I got my appt. with the neuro. my eye got worse,so I was sent to a ophthalmologist who said I had uveitis, with a autoimmune disease underline cause. I was put on 80mg. a day prednisone. with in the next week my appt. came up with the neuro. He told me I did not have t.n. or an autoimmune disease, and sent me for a mri.the next week I wnt by to the eye dr. for a follow up and my vision went from 20/40 to 20/200 When I told her that the neuro. took me off the prednisone she went wild and called him and my family dr. ant way I was put back on 80mg. and sent to a rheumatologist.lots of test were done and I was told I could have [ this and that disease] put the prednisone may be messing up the test. the eye dr. will not allowed me to be off it untill the uveitis is under controlled. I was also sent to an e.n.t. to check for sinus disease, he told me I have trigeminal neuralgia.the eye dr. and the rheu.said no way. now I am in a wait and see what happens mode. Is this the way these things are usually done? sorry for a long post, I dont know where else to find or talk about this.I am not very good with typing or using a computer.
