I am about to publish a medical journal paper about how long term sleep apnea can lead to autoimmune disease. The lack of oxygen from sleep apnea causes the cells to begin to disintegrate, and they generate excess uric acid. The uric acid triggers an immune system response. Over the long term, continued repetition of the same immune response can lead to autoimmune disease. If you have autoimmune disease, get checked for sleep apnea. |
