Thanks for your support. Today I took our dogs out to Homeville so they could walk around the fields and the shore at my Dad's place without being muzzled. There were very few barks at all - and the few times they did were mostly when greeting my relatives!! Didn't even bark at the crows or seagulls. I guess they were just happy to be outside again since the "grinch" took their own backyard from them.
I'd like to see a review of the Regional Housing act to keep troublemakers away from established long term residents and homeowners. Do you know how many times I have been in that office over their choice of tenants? The answer is every time the SPCA or the police was called over my dog's bark or an errant shovelfull of snow landing in a Regional Housing driveway in the winter. Don't laugh about the "errant" shovel full of snow. We've got photo documentation of that one cubic foot(or less) of snow bringing the Police to our door twice.
Not all Regional Housing tenants are bad. One of the previous residents even had a dog that played with ours. Another lady that lived there one time gave us one of our cats. The people in the other Regional Housing duplex across the road are model citizens and an asset to the neighbourhood.
Sorry to get on a "rant" but it's better than losing the temper, doing something stupid and then being charged for assault. Since I'm experienced in website building I thought this may be a better way to get rid of some of my anger. A great man once said "The Pen is mightier than the Sword" If that's the case this website should be compared to a nuclear bomb.
He has no idea how much attention he is going to get from this. I'll do anything - newspaper ads, protesters with signs, demonstrations designed to attract the media, etc, whatever it takes..................
As dog owners are you happy with the dog bylaw? If not then we should draw our line in the sand right here right now. Today it's my dogs in trouble for just being dogs - Tomorrow it could be YOURS!!
I just want to say i understand the frustrations of having the SPCA breathing down your back because of a local complaint. I have been there, but I must say, I never understood the laws until I took the time to read them over carefully and it took me to actually be charged with barking and go to court to understand that if you do not own a dog, or even if you do not like them, you should not have to put up with mine barking half the day and or night. This is why we have laws. It is unfortunate for it to go so far to actually be charged with this law, but the SPCA does give several warnings before it comes to this. I have been found guilty of barking by the way lol, and had to pay the fine, I have since gave up my dog (by choice) and would you believe it, a new neighbour moved in a cpl months ago and his dog is driving me absolutly batty with barking!! I had no idea how bad my dog was annoying someone else until my neighbours dog started yapping. So i guess what i'm trying to say is, put yourself in the complainers shoes, just for a minute, because until my new neighbour moved in, I had absolutley no idea how annoying a barking dog can be.....till now.
It is not right that these dogs should be blamed for the barking.I have walked down that street a number of times and their are a number of dogs that are tied and bark all the time and I never hear his dogs bark when I go by,so how can some one blame his two dogs for barking when their are a number of dogs on that street that bark everytime you go by.
If the person who gave his dogs away because of their barking, then he doesn't know what loving an animal is.What other way is their a way for a dog to protect you if he doesn't bark, but maybe if a few people had their vocal cords removed it would make all the difference in the world, and this is the only way that dogs will have rights.
Sweet, but here's the bottom line. Dogs are pets, we are the masters, it's up to us to decide wheather the dogs bark or not. If you have a dog that is out of control, like a constant barker for instance, then obviously, you can't handle one and prob should not have 1.
I own 4 dogs and i can tell you, my own neighbours would not be able to tell you i have 1 dog, let alone 4 of then for this reason, I took the time to train them properly and be great house pets.
Rest asure, there are people out there who get dogs for all the wrong reasons and they wind up tied outside basically forgot about, and what happens? they start barking to get attention. This is why ev1 should think twice before owning a dog, because they're not just cute, cudly little creatures, they grow up like kids and need tons of attention.
Remember, A Dog is for life!!
